I am a software developer, agency founder, and help startups and companies get their app on the road. As a late starter with all things digital, I ventured into the tech world in my early 30s. With my software agency Cuckoo Coding GmbH , I actively shape the digital products of tomorrow. In addition to my role as CEO and developer, I'm also a speaker and moderator at conferences and meetups. My goal is to promote meaningful, sustainable, and inclusive digitalization of our country and economy.

Entrepreneur of the Year

It is a great honor for me to have received the "City of Hanover Award - Women Make Location" in 2023. The prize was awarded to me for my innovative leadership at Cuckoo Coding and because I actively support and promote women here in the city in founding and entering the tech industry.

Community love <3

As a software developer, you constantly need to learn new things to excel in your job and keep evolving. When I founded my software agency in 2017, I had a master's degree in philosophy and way too little practical experience in software development. I needed people around me, from and with whom I could learn the trade. Hoping to find like-minded individuals, I founded the Google Developer Group Hannover. We now have over 600 members, and I moderate our meetup every month, where we discuss the latest technologies and host speakers from around the world.

In 2017, I founded my software agency, Cuckoo Coding GmbH. My team works entirely remotely - we are located in Ukraine, France, Sudan, Portugal, Egypt, and Germany. Our work culture is self-determined, and we place a high value on open communication, both internally and with our clients. We develop apps using the Flutter framework that run on iPhones, Android smartphones, the web, or as desktop apps. We love good design and clean code. We prefer working on projects that we find meaningful, especially for impact startups, administration, or the medical industry. Accessibility is important to us, and we strive to develop our apps to be usable by people with disabilities.

I founded the Google Developer Group in 2017 to build a developer network in Hannover. I wanted to delve deeper into software development and consistently stay up to date with the latest tools and topics. We meet once a month in the conference room 'Die Kabine' in Calenberger Neustadt. I moderate the meetups, and we always have an exciting speaker as our guest. Google sponsors us and helps us find speakers for our events. Feel free to join us if you want to connect with other developers and continue learning!

I'm in love: with a framework. I never understood why one has to write the same app in 5 different languages to make it run on 5 different operating systems. A few years ago, Google developed Flutter, a framework that doesn't have these limitations. I enthusiastically immersed myself in the topic and specialized myself and my agency exclusively in Flutter. And I have never regretted it since Flutter has now become an industry standard. To help more aspiring developers fall in love with Flutter, I co-authored a book on it with Verena Zaiser. In the summer of 2023, 'App Development with Flutter for Dummies' was published by Wiley and is available in bookstores and online.

I launched Women Techmakers in 2019 because the tech meetups in Hannover (including my own GDG) attracted very few women. I wondered if an all-women meetup might be more interesting for female techies. And indeed, the Women Techmakers Hannover now have nearly 400 members: game developers, data scientists, web and app developers, AI specialists, full-stack and backend developers, computer science teachers, and more. We meet once a month for networking with drinks at Café Safran, and occasionally for educational workshops in the conference room 'Die Kabine.' Women Techmakers is all about supporting each other in our careers and providing a point of contact for women who are new to the tech scene and looking for guidance.

Women in Tech

Why are there so few women founding tech startups in Germany? I believe that the reason I found a passion for tech so late in life is mostly due to the fact that during my youth, I didn't know any women doing cool tech stuff. I want to change that for the next generation. That's why I support women who want to break into the tech scene with my Women Techmakers meetup. And I support women who want to start a tech startup through mentoring and as an advisor. Since 2021, I've been a tech mentor at the Create F accelerator program. I try to be on stage as often as possible and visit schools and universities to reach young women and ignite their interest in this cool craft.

Digitalization

The products of tomorrow should be co-created by everyone. Currently, founders, software developers, and investors in Germany are not very diverse (unfortunately, the gender asterisk is usually unnecessary here). I believe that this puts us at a disadvantage in digitization as a country. If we want to efficiently digitize the economy and administration, we need to include everyone. Young and old people, immigrants, people with disabilities, parents, men, women, and everyone in between. For this, we need to talk about topics like accessibility, work-life balance, fair AI, computer science education for girls, gender quotas, and more. I do this on LinkedIn and as a speaker at conferences and events.

  • Yoga is an essential part of my life, and I occasionally teach Vinyasa Flow classes for free.
  • I am a language enthusiast. Don't get me started on it; I'll bore you to death with nerd facts. I speak English, French, and Russian and have learned (and forgotten) Arabic, Korean, Kiswahili, Japanese, Indonesian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Thai, Italian, and Mandarin.
